FAQs
Pelton Aggregates
Do you deliver?
Yes, we offer delivery services. Our residential and job site direct delivery covers up to 60 miles from our Wilmington and Dunn, NC locations. We can arrange deliveries beyond this radius, but please note that costs increase significantly with distance. When can I get my order delivered?
We deliver Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. After placing your order, we'll work with you to find the most suitable delivery time. In many cases, we can even provide same-day delivery service. Can your delivery trucks spread the material for me?
While we don't offer full spreading services, our drivers may perform a 'tailgate spread' if it's safe to do so. This involves gradually distributing the material while driving, resulting in a scattered pattern rather than a single large pile. Can I pick up my own material?
Certainly. You're welcome to collect your materials from our Wilmington or Dunn, NC yards if you have suitable transport. We can load most pickups, trailers, and dump trucks. Please note, Pelton Aggregates isn't liable for any damage or injury during loading, and we ask that you remain in your vehicle. Children are not permitted in the yard. How many tons are in a yard?
Generally, 1 cubic yard equals about 1.35 U.S. tons. However, this can vary depending on the stone's size and classification. Larger stones tend to be heavier than smaller ones, and the composition and density greatly affect the weight-to-volume ratio. For precise calculations, use our Gravel Calculator or contact us for assistance. What projects are aggregate materials suited for?
Our aggregate materials, including gravel and crushed stone, are ideal for various projects. These include driveways, drainage systems, landscaping, construction, and other residential and commercial applications. For specific usage recommendations, please refer to individual product descriptions on our website or contact us directly. Is there a minimum amount I must purchase?
We don't have minimum purchase requirements for most orders. However, we sell by the ton, so we do not sell partial tons. A full load of material is considered 20 tons. How is a bulk order delivered?
We use professional dump truck fleets for safe and timely bulk deliveries. Our drivers will determine the best dumping location based on landscape and soil conditions. Please be aware that dump trucks are heavy, so we may not be able to access wet or unstable ground. What if I have an issue with my order?
For any order-related questions or concerns, please give us a call. If you're unsatisfied with your received order, call us promptly. To refuse an order, you must do so before unloading. If you're not present at delivery to refuse, you'll be responsible for payment but may receive a discount on the current or a future order. We recommend examining orders before unloading to ensure you're receiving the correct product. We're committed to finding satisfactory solutions for our customers. What payment options do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, with an additional 3.5% processing fee. Cash payments are also welcome.
